An annual music festival that has been going on since 1995, Przystanek is the Polish equivalent to Bonnaroo. Promoting peace and freedom throughout the world, the festival has drawn some of the largest crowds in the history of European music. Pyzystanek Woodstock 2010 hopes to once again bring people together for peace and music. Set to take place sometime in late July 30-August 1, in Poland, Kostrzyn, on the Oder, Przystanek Woodstock 2010 is not recommended to be missed. With the motto "Love, Friendship, and Music", Przystanek has adopted the same attitude (and crowd) as the original Woodstock 1969 and spread the message of peace to all of its attendees. Drugs, weapons, and fires are strictly prohibited at the festival. Because not all of the individuals abide by these rules, it has been criticized by the Roman Catholic Church and praised by the youth of Europe. Home to some of the most popular bands in Poland and frequented by bands from all around the world, the eclectic music of Przystanek is legendary. Some of the largest bands in Poland and abroad have played at Przystanek including Polish bands Hey, Dzem, Voo Voo, Pidzama Porno, T. Love, Raz Dwa Trzy, Sweet Noise, KSU, Armia, Dezerter, Indios Bravos, Habakuk, Leszek Mozdzer, Farben Lehre, Kobranoka, Lao Che, Vader, and Hunter. The festival has also seen acts from other countries including Guano Apes, Die Toten Hosen, Killing Joke, The Stranglers, Clawfinger, Kreator, Beatsteaks, Zion Train, and Twinkle Brothers. Preliminaries have recently begun for the Przystanek Woodstock 2010 lineup which is yet to be announced. The festival has also held numerous contests for musicians for the chance to play on the big stage at the festival. |

Organized by The Academy of the Most Beautiful Arts, some of the most creative minds in Poland are behind the concert. Polish figures such as Lech Walesa, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, and Leszek Balcerowics have discussed the history of Poland, Tomasz Lis, Monika Olejnik and Tomasz Siekielski held conferences about journalism, and Dorota Maslowska, Janusz Glowacki, and Jerzy Bralczyk spoke about language and the role that uniting countries plays in today's world. The person who talks to the artists and creates the unified festival has been at it for 15 years and still believes that the world needs this amazing festival. Money for the festival is raised by independent sponsors throughout the year and finances medical equipment and fund the Przystanek Peace Patrol. It's this funding and the appropriation of the funds that makes the festival one of the safest places in Poland. Since problems are so rarely reported, Przystanek has been revered as one of the best organized and most fun summer festivals. In a wild progression, the peaceful nature of the festival is quite unique. The first festival took place in 1995 and sold no alcohol. During the second festival, beer was sold and is still offered at the festivals to this day. The town of Zary became home to the festival until 2003, but the location changes from year to year now. Nearly 50 bands show up ton Przystanek each year making it the largest music festival in Poland and perhaps one of the largest in the entire world. Crowds have increased from about 150,000 in 1998 to about 300,000 in 2009. Przystanek has adopted the music and the spirit of the Woodstock nation and made it uniquely European. Music lovers from all around the world consider it a truly remarkable adaptation of Woodstock and an absolutely blowout music festival. Along with concerts on two different stages, there are many different events that the festival has to offer.
